Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) and Kingston Area Network (KANnet) among winners of Bell Canada Community Development Fund (2003) for their Wireless Community Portal for Kingston.

This project will define, develop and deploy a community portal for small electronic devices such as PDA's or cell phones with micro-browser capabilities. The content will, as much as reasonably possible, also conform to the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) to ensure usability by those who are challenged in their use of the Internet by some form of disability.

This portal will leverage the community's existing investments in community databases and information tools and bring existing content to wireless users through the community's current and planned WI-FI hot spots. Initially, the content will include information about events and interesting places to visit, organized by date and type.
